义门陈族谱怎么查？How to Search Yimen Chen Genealogy Records
查族谱不能只搜索自己的名字。更好的方法是先确定祖籍、始迁祖、堂号、字辈和支系，再到图书馆目录、家谱数据库和本支族谱中对照。
Do not search a genealogy by name alone. First collect the ancestral place, migration ancestor, hall name, generation characters and branch. Then compare library catalogs, genealogy databases and the genealogy of your own branch.
Note: A catalog record does not always include the full book online. A missing name does not prove that the person is absent from every edition. Some records require an account, a library visit or permission.

寻根查询六步Six Steps for Family Research
- 记录本人、父亲、祖父和曾祖父的准确姓名。Record the exact names of yourself, your father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
- 记录老家到村一级的地名和旧地名。Record the home village and any older place names.
- 记录字辈、堂号、祠堂和始迁祖说法。Collect generation characters, hall name, ancestral hall and migration ancestor.
- 先查谱名和收藏地点。Search for the genealogy title and where it is held.
- 阅读原页，核对连续父子关系，不凭同名认亲。Read original pages and verify each parent-child link. A matching name is not enough.
- 分开记录确定、可能、冲突和缺失的信息。Separate confirmed, possible, conflicting and missing information.
